 New champion after 13 years

Christian Coleman and Trayvon Bromell, the current two fastest runners in the 100m race, were not playing in the final.

Coleman was banned for two years last year after failing to appear three times in 2019 before officials who took blood samples for drugs tests.  Because of this Coleman is not playing in Tokyo while Bromell could not reach the final for this race.

With this victory of 26-year-old Lemont Marcel Jacobs, a new player has become the champion in the 100 meters race after 13 years in the Olympics.
