The Russian military police entered the neighborhoods of the Syrian city of Daraa today, Wednesday, as part of a 3-day ceasefire agreement between the tribes of Daraa and the Syrian regime.

The Negotiations Committee on behalf of the people of Daraa said - in a statement - that the agreement with the regime regarding the besieged neighborhoods in the city was made with the guarantee of the Russian side, and provides for an immediate ceasefire, the entry of a Russian military police patrol and its stationing in Daraa al-Balad, in addition to the lifting of the siege and the entry of aid into the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad. .

Earlier today, Wednesday, the negotiating committee in the Daraa Al-Balad area in the city of Daraa reached an agreement with Russia for a ceasefire, after heavy shelling and attempts to storm the area by the Syrian regime during the past days.

On June 25, the Syrian regime forces and their affiliated militias imposed a siege on the Daraa al-Balad area, after the opposition refused to hand over light weapons, as it violated an agreement brokered by Russia in 2018, which stipulated the handing over of heavy and medium weapons.

A month later, the Daraa Al-Balad Negotiating Committee and the regime forces reached an agreement stipulating a partial withdrawal of the remaining light weapons in the hands of the opposition, and a partial presence of the regime forces, but the latter violated the agreement and insisted on complete control of the area.
