The New York Times revealed that the US Air Force launched a raid that killed about 70 civilians, women and children, during the war against the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Syria.

The newspaper stated in a report on Saturday that the US Air Force targeted women and children on March 18, 2019 in the Baghouz area, noting that F-15E fighters dropped more than two tons of bombs on these civilians and killed them after drones identified their place.

She stated that this incident is being disclosed for the first time, and is one of the operations that resulted in the largest number of civilian casualties in the war against the terrorist "ISIS".

However, the newspaper added: "However, the US military never announced the incident to the public, and one of the human rights defenders described the attack as a possible war crime that requires investigation."

She noted that the military officials each time took steps to hide the attack, which amounted to a "disaster", and sought to reduce the number of dead and postponed the reports.

And it confirmed that the forces of the international coalition to combat the terrorist "ISIS" led by the United States leveled the site of the explosion with bulldozers and did not inform the commanders of the matter.

According to the newspaper, the details of the attack were gathered as a result of examining confidential documents and reports for months, and direct meetings with relevant employees and officials.

After sending the results to the Central Command, the latter acknowledged the attack for the first time and claimed that the air strikes were justified, and acknowledged the killing of 80 people.

The newspaper quoted the leadership as saying that the attack killed 16 ISIS militants, and 4 civilians. As for the other 60 people, it was not ascertained whether they were civilians or not because women and children sometimes carried weapons inside the organization’s areas.
