The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced the suspension of all fishing in the waters of the Black Sea, located between Bulgaria and Kafkan District of Kocaeli State (Northwest), until further notice.

The ministry said, in a statement published on Twitter on Saturday, that the decision aims to protect the lives and properties of fishermen and residents in the area.

According to the statement, the decision includes all types of fishing, including with hooks on small boats.

Earlier on Saturday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced that the SAS teams had neutralized an old mine found in the Bosphorus Strait (connecting the Sea of ​​Marmara and the Black Sea) in Istanbul.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Akar indicated that contacts have been made with the Russian and Ukrainian authorities on the matter, stressing that coordination is continuing.

For its part, the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced, in a statement, the opening of the Bosphorus Strait to ships' navigation in both directions, hours after it was suspended for security reasons.
