The Israeli army kills a Palestinian and injures 31 in Nablus in the northern West Bank

The Israeli army killed a Palestinian and wounded dozens in clashes that erupted after it invaded the city of Nablus to secure the settlers' storming of Joseph's Tomb.

The Israeli army killed a Palestinian and wounded 31 others during clashes on Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning in the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Ahmed Jibril, the ambulance and emergency official in the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, said that the young Wassim Nasr Khalifa (18 years), "was martyred by the Israeli army's bullets at dawn on Thursday, as a result of being hit by a direct bullet in the heart during confrontations in the city of Nablus late on Wednesday night," according to the Anatolia Agency.

In a previous statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent said that its crews dealt with "31 injuries in Nablus, 4 with live bullets, 3 of which are dangerous, and a gas canister hit in the head, 25 cases of gas suffocation, and one fell to the ground."

According to the Palestinian News Agency, Israeli forces "in large numbers stormed Al-Quds and Amman Streets, the vicinity of Yusuf's shrine, east of Nablus, and the Askar and Balata camps, amid shooting, tear gas and sound bombs, causing dozens of suffocation."

She added that clashes erupted between the intrusive forces and Palestinian youths.

For its part, the Jenin Brigades, an armed group affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, announced, in a series of press releases, that Israeli forces were shot dead in the vicinity of Joseph's Tomb.

Settlers frequently storm the city of Nablus to perform prayers in the "Tomb of Joseph", under the guard of the Israeli army, to perform Jewish religious rituals, because they believe that it is the tomb of the Prophet Joseph, peace be upon him.

The Palestinians deny the validity of this, and say that the age of the tomb does not exceed 200 years, and that it belonged to a Muslim man who lived in the area in the past, called Youssef Dweikat.
