The United States conducts a test of an intercontinental ballistic missile

The US military has conducted a test of the "Minuteman-3" intercontinental ballistic missile, which is considered capable of carrying a nuclear weapon, and is produced by Boeing.

The US military said on Tuesday it had tested a "Minuteman-3" intercontinental ballistic missile, the launch of which had been delayed to avoid an escalation of tension with China during its show of force near Taiwan this month.

The military said in a statement that the test "demonstrates the readiness of the US nuclear forces and provides confidence in the lethality and effectiveness of the United States' nuclear deterrence."

The military said about 300 of these tests had been conducted before and were not the result of any particular global event.

In April, the US military canceled a test of its Minuteman-3 ICBM to reduce nuclear tension with Russia during its ongoing war in Ukraine.

The Minuteman-3 nuclear-capable missile, produced by Boeing, is an important weapon in the US military's strategic arsenal. The missile has a range of more than 9,660 km and can fly at a speed of close to 24,000 km per hour.

These missiles are kept in underground warehouses in separate places under the management of the launch crews.
