The Chief of the General Staff of South Africa said that his country realizes the importance of the capabilities of the Turkish defense industries, stressing the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the field of defense industries.
General Rodzani Mavuania, Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of South Africa, said that his country is open to partnership and cooperation with Turkey in the field of military defense industries.
The South African army is the second largest military force in Africa in terms of military equipment and capabilities, and the "strongest army" in the sub-Saharan region.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, the South African Chief of General Staff stressed the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the field of defense industries.
"South Africa is one of the countries that attaches special importance to innovations in the defense industry, especially armored vehicles, and our country is open to cooperation with Ankara," Mavuania added.
He pointed out that the equipment and technologies produced by the Turkish defense industries are commensurate with the needs of his country.
Mavwani pointed out that there is a real joint work between South African companies working in the field of defense industries and their counterparts in Turkey, and that this joint work contributes to pushing forward cooperation opportunities to meet the needs in both countries.
He pointed out that the South African Navy, which is one of the most advanced naval forces in Africa, is equipped with locally-made equipment and technologies, and that Pretoria is also aware of the level of development achieved by the Turkish naval industries.
Mavuania stressed the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime industries, and said, "We have similar technologies, and we can work together to develop our industries forward."
"Turkey and South Africa are among the world's leading countries in the field of advanced technology and solutions production, so we look forward to establishing close cooperation with Ankara to cover all fields," he added.
The defense industry sector in South Africa has a wide range of products, including equipment with complex systems, while the country exports its products to about 70 countries, including Europe and the Gulf countries.
South Africa has a well-developed level of domestic industries, especially equipment for the land forces.
The country's defense industry can also produce more complex and advanced platforms such as surface-to-air missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, radar systems, and electronic warfare systems.
