Chandigarh:The Haryana government on Sunday ordered suspension of mobile internet and SMS service for the next three days in view of increasing communal tension and apprehension of breach of peace in Nuh district. The government issued the directive following calls for further demonstrations against the abduction and killing of two youths from Rajasthan allegedly by 'cow protectors'.  According to the official order, the ban "will continue till 11.59 pm from 26 February to 28 February 2023".  Sources said security has been beefed up in Nuh, where hundreds of people blocked the Nuh-Alwar highway at Firozpur Jhirka last Friday.  The protesters are demanding the arrest of those accused of abducting two youths from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, bringing them to Bhiwani in Haryana, killing them and burning their dead bodies.  "The Haryana government has banned all dongles except mobile internet services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), SMS services including bulk SMS services (except banking and mobile recharge) and voice calls," the order said. Services have been ordered to be suspended in Nuh with immediate effect.  The reason for the ban has been cited as "possible communal tension and apprehension of breach of peace".  The order states that internet service has been temporarily suspended to prevent the spread of misleading information and rumors through various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.
