Tel Aviv to Sisi: Do not seek political support with the statements of “Israel storms Al-Aqsa”

Tel Aviv to Sisi: Do not seek political support with the statements of “Israel storms Al-Aqsa” Egypt is going through a severe economic crisis these days, and its president, Sisi, is eager for financial aid from abroad. Only the Gulf states can help him without restrictive conditions, led by Saudi Arabia. To obtain this, he must release statements of support for the Palestinians as proof of his belonging to their camp. He recently found the opportunity at the Jerusalem Conference of the Arab League, which was held in Cairo. The conference is held every year and its aim is to multiply statements of support for the Palestinians in the cause of their struggle for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, then to recruit financial donations, and all this in light of defamation of Israel. In the past, delegates from our “Joint List” would participate in the conference and deliver inflammatory speeches against us. At the recent conference, Sisi hardened his tone towards us. He attacked our politics in general, but he said things that were not true, as Al-Sisi said that Israel is storming Al-Aqsa. this is not true; Does Sisi know about the existence of an Israeli law from 1967 that sentences seven years in actual prison for anyone who violates the sanctity of the place? Al-Sisi is obliged to differentiate between Al-Aqsa and Jabal Al-Bayt (the Haram), which is a story in itself. Al-Sisi also talked about unilateral steps that Israel is taking in Jerusalem, such as confiscating lands for the purpose of Judaizing the city and others. It is important for Israel to explain the truth to the Egyptians and not leave it unanswered. The Egyptian president's words are picked up by the masses of the public, and there are those who resonate with them and use them against us. No need for a word of rebuke to the ambassador. But what is required is a hadith that clarifies and presents a true picture of reality. At the same time, the current situation on the campus can be talked about and made public. The essence of the status quo must be spread to the sanctuary that everyone wishes to preserve. Its details can be published in coordination with Jordan and Egypt, thus preventing inaccurate and sometimes even false statements. The current situation on the Haram is concerned with Israeli sovereignty and with Israeli law on the Haram, which allows Jews to visit the Haram, but without praying there. The Waqf, along with Jordan, will continue to administer Islamic holy sites, and the State of Israel and its police will maintain security. This is important information for us as it is for our neighbors and the rest of the world. Sisi is committed to peace with us, and this is an important building block. You must convey to him the correct picture of our situation so that he does not depend on information from haters of Israel. By: Yitzhak Levanon
