And Abdullahian added, explaining: "The acceleration (normalization) of relations between Riyadh and Tehran takes some time, and we still have challenges ahead, but they are not considered obstacles in the way of the progress of the talks."  The Iranian minister indicated that he would meet with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, "soon," without specifying a specific date.  On the Yemeni crisis, he said that Tehran welcomes any initiative that solves the region's problems, and stressed that his country welcomes the ongoing talks aimed at resolving the crisis in Yemen.  Yemen is witnessing a war that began after the Houthis took control of the capital, Sana'a, and several provinces at the end of 2014, with the support of the forces of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was killed in 2017 in clashes with the group's militants, following the end of the alliance between them.  The conflict has intensified since March 2015, after a Saudi-led military coalition intervened to support the legitimate government forces, in the face of the Iranian-backed Houthi group.  On the other hand, the minister considered that the West complicates the situation in Ukraine by providing weapons to Kiev, and said that his country's defense cooperation with Russia is not directed against any party. This came, according to what was reported by the official Emirates News Agency, in supreme decisions that come less than a year after the election of Mohammed bin Zayed as President of the Emirates, with a "consensus" from the Supreme Council of the Federation, the highest constitutional and legislative authority in the country.  And the agency stated that "the President of the Emirates, with the approval of the Federal Supreme Council, decided to appoint (his brother) Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, as his deputy, along with his deputy, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai." Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was a member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office.  The President of the Emirates also issued "an Emiri decree appointing His Highness (his brother) Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan and (his brother) Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan as deputy rulers of Abu Dhabi."  And Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan holds the position of National Security Adviser in the country, while Sheikh Hazaa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.  On May 14, 2022, the Supreme Council of the Federation unanimously elected Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, as President of the UAE, to succeed his brother, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was chosen as his deputy, without naming a crown prince.
