The UNODC specifies that between 2019 and 2022, at least 57 tons of cocaine were seized in West  Africa or en route to this region.  Seizures that affected Cape Verde (16.6 tons),  Senegal (4.7 tons) and Benin (3.9 tons), according to the report.     Zimbabwe wants to criminalize the foreign recruitment of its doctors  Zimbabwe plans to enact a law criminalizing the recruitment of its health personnel by other countries.  Vice President Constantino Chiwenga , who is also health minister , said the flight of health professionals amounts to human trafficking.  Tougher penalties will be imposed on those he accuses of depriving the nation of its human capital.  "If someone deliberately recruits and causes the country to suffer, it's a crime against humanity. People are dying in hospitals because there are no nurses and doctors. This must be taken seriously. seriously," said Constantino Chiwenga .  "Zimbabwe disapproves of this heinous crime which is also a grave violation of human rights," he concluded.  Destination UK  Local media say more than 4,000 nurses and doctors have left Zimbabwe since February 2021.  The UK 's National Health Service is an attractive destination for Zimbabwean doctors and nurses, as salaries are much higher than in the country.  The UK last month halted the recruitment of Zimbabwean health workers after the southern African country was placed by the World Health Organization on a red list which designates countries facing serious problems of health personnel.  According to the Zimbabwe Medical Association , the country has around 3,500 doctors for a population of 15 million.  Zimbabwe is grappling with an economic crisis that has seen wages decimated by endless inflation.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga , who is also health minister , said the flight of health professionals amounts to human trafficking.

Tougher penalties will be imposed on those he accuses of depriving the nation of its human capital.

"If someone deliberately recruits and causes the country to suffer, it's a crime against humanity. People are dying in hospitals because there are no nurses and doctors. This must be taken seriously. seriously," said Constantino Chiwenga .
