The Palestinian Endowments Department confirmed that 4,345 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the days of the Jewish Passover, noting that the number is the highest compared to previous years.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said on Tuesday that the number of settlers storming Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish Passover period this year is the highest compared to previous years, and reached 4,345.

The Endowments Department stated in a brief statement: “After carefully reviewing the number of intruders and comparing it with previous years, it became clear that the largest number of intruders (during the Jewish Passover period) was this year.”

She indicated that 71 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning, while Thursday witnessed the largest storming, as 1,679 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to the Endowments Department’s statistics, and those of right-wing Israeli groups, including the “Baydina” organization, 4,345 settlers stormed the mosque during the Jewish Passover period this year.

For comparison, 3,670 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Easter period in 2023, according to official statistics.

The number of people storming Al-Aqsa Mosque on normal days ranges between 100-200, but doubles on Jewish holidays.

Since 2003, the Israeli occupation police have unilaterally allowed settlers to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Mughrabi Gate, in the western wall of the mosque, without the approval of the Islamic Endowments Department, which has since demanded an end to the raids.

These incursions coincide with a devastating war waged by the Israeli occupation army against Gaza since October 7, which left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, which necessitated the trial of Tel Aviv before the International Court of Justice on the grounds of “genocide.”

In parallel, the Israeli occupation army and settlers are escalating their attacks on Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, leaving 492 martyrs and about 4,900 wounded, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health as of yesterday, Monday.

  1. The Palestinian Endowments Department has reported a significant increase in settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish Passover period, with 4,345 settlers storming the site this year. This number, the highest in recent years, reflects a concerning escalation. The frequency of such incursions has grown, with the largest recorded on Thursday, when 1,679 settlers entered the mosque. These unauthorized raids, permitted by the Israeli occupation police since 2003, disrupt the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and heighten tensions in Jerusalem. The increase in such provocative actions coincides with Israel's ongoing military offensive in Gaza, leading to thousands of civilian casualties, and escalations in the occupied West Bank, where settlers and Israeli forces continue to target Palestinians and their property. This surge in violence underscores the urgent need for international attention and a commitment to protect the rights and sanctity of religious sites.
