NASA has confirmed that each of the past 12 months has set a new global temperature record.

This is an indication of the rapid warming that our planet is currently experiencing.

“It is clear that we are facing a climate crisis,” says NASA Administrator Bill Nelson. “Communities across America - like Arizona, California and Nevada - and communities around the world are feeling extreme heat in unprecedented numbers.”

Last November, the average global temperature was nearly 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels for the “first time,” while the US winter was the warmest on record.

Humanity is emitting more greenhouse gases than ever before in history. We appear to be heading towards the edge of the climate abyss, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

We also show NASA that the past 10 years in a row have been the warmest since records began being kept at the end of the 19th century.

Before this series extending throughout the New Year, the hottest period occurred between 2015 and 2016, and lasted 7 months.

“We are seeing more hot days, more hot months, and more hot years, ” says Kate Calvin , NASA’s senior climate advisor. “We know that these temperature increases are caused by greenhouse gas emissions, and they affect people and ecosystems everywhere.” around the world".

Experts say a strong El NiΓ±o weather pattern, which began early in 2023, has led to the current high temperatures.
