This year's Kazakhstan MotoGP has been cancelled

Jakarta - MotoGP World Championship organizers, namely FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports, announced that this year's Kazakhstan Grand Prix has been canceled.

MotoGP's statement on Monday said the cancellation was due to operational and logistical issues following floods that hit the country.

"This makes it impossible to hold the grand prix in 2024," MotoGP said.

In late May, MotoGP announced that the Kazakhstan Grand Prix would replace the Indian Grand Prix which was also canceled this year.

The inaugural Kazakhstan MotoGP, which was planned to be held at the Sokol International Circuit, was originally scheduled to be held on September 20-22 as the opener of the Asian tour series.

This is not the first time Kazakhstan has cancelled its MotoGP hosting role, as MotoGP announced in early May that the Kazakhstan Grand Prix had been postponed due to flooding in the Central Asian country.

The extreme weather caused flooding across Central Asia, prompting Kazakhstan to declare a national emergency and forcing residents to evacuate.

In its place, the Misano International Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on September 20-22.

"The Italian GP earlier this season was the second most attended grand prix at the venue, and tickets for the San Marino GP, MotoGP's first visit to Misano this season, are expected to sell out quickly," MotoGP said.
