Ministry of SOEs ensures that public money in Himbara banks is safe
Jakarta - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has confirmed that public money deposited in the State-Owned Bank Association (Himbara) will not be used for investment capital by the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara).

Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises Spokesperson Putri Violla said that her party had spoken with all Himbara corporate secretaries regarding the invitation to withdraw funds from state-owned banks to be transferred to private banks.

"So don't worry for the people who will be able to put their money in, so don't withdraw the money. That's the issue, throw it to a private bank," said Putri in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Putri said that the Ministry of SOEs will conduct massive socialization to handle this problem.

He understands the concerns of the public who are afraid that their funds will be lost, because they are looking at the case of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) or the state investment fund management company.

"We are currently providing socialization to the public so far to provide assurance to the public that they do not need to worry about everything, supervision, guarding, institutional matters are all carried out by the Ministry of SOEs," he said.

Previously reported, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that money deposited by the public in state-owned banks (BUMN) is safe.

He conveyed this in response to calls to withdraw funds en masse from state-owned banks amid the formation of the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency (BPI).

"No need (to withdraw). Earlier, it was because it could be audited by anyone, he said. This means that transparency will continue to be encouraged. So people don't need to withdraw funds from banks," said Purbaya at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (24/2).

He said that the government has ensured that BPI Danantara will be managed professionally, transparently, and can be audited by anyone.

Purbaya also said that there are at least two main reasons why people do not need to worry.
