Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir stated that the reason for appointing Jordi Cruyff as technical advisor was because the Dutch man's former club, FC Barcelona, has a playing philosophy and has produced big names in football.
Erick hopes that Jordi, who has been at Barcelona since he was young from 1988 to 1996, and also became a strategic advisor from August 2021 to June 30, 2022 and sports director from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, can absorb knowledge and apply it to Indonesian football.
"Why did we take Jordi, we see that Barcelona is one of the clubs that has a playing philosophy and has consistently implemented it until today, and they have also succeeded in producing big stars," said Erick in a press conference at the Danareksa Tower, Jakarta, Tuesday.
Erick admitted that he almost had a chance with a man from Spain, but on this occasion he did not reveal his name.
