Obstetrician and Gynecologist Subspecialist Fertility Endocrinology Reproductive Dr. Boy Abidin, SpOG, Subsp. FER stated that many women normalize and feel taboo discussing the issue of menstrual pain and Heavy Menstrual Bleeding (PMB) due to stigma and hoaxes.
"Access to accurate and easy-to-understand information about women's reproductive health must continue to be improved," said Doctor Boy in a media meeting in Jakarta, Monday.
The doctor who graduated from Padjadjaran University highlighted that many women in Indonesia still feel embarrassed or reluctant to discuss topics related to menstruation or reproductive disorders that have an impact on their future health.
He gave examples such as menstrual pain and PMB which can result in anemia and decreased quality of life.
