The Egyptian women's tennis team defeated its Israeli counterpart 2-0 in Tel Aviv in the second Afro-European Group of the Billie Jean King Championship, which is being held in Larnaca, Cyprus.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, congratulated the team and the technical staff, headed by Captain Ismail El Shafei, President of the Egyptian Tennis Federation, stressing that this victory reflects the significant development witnessed by tennis in Egypt under the Federation's leadership.
The minister praised the players' outstanding performance and high fighting spirit, considering this victory an important step toward achieving the dream of advancing to the first group. He also commended the Egyptian Tennis Federation for its efforts in developing the game and discovering new talent.
It's worth noting that the national team is currently preparing for a tough match against Bulgaria, ranked 37th in the world, on Tuesday, as part of the continuation of the prestigious international tournament.
