Google said it has blocked 5.1 billion ads, removed 1.3 billion web pages and restricted the display of 9.1 billion ads suspected of being fraudulent throughout 2024.
By comparison, Google blocked more than 5.5 billion ads and took action against 2.1 billion publisher pages in 2023.
The search engine giant explained that by leveraging large language models ( LLMs ) and signs such as business impersonation and illegal payment details, it managed to suspend most of the fake advertiser accounts before the ads were served, as reported by Tech Crunch on Wednesday.
