Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid asked public broadcasting institutions to broadcast programs that educate and unite.
"We need to restore the culture of watching quality shows. LPP must be a home for content that is intelligent, unifying, and entertaining in a healthy way," said Meutya in her press statement.
"We need strong public media to convey objective and enlightening development narratives, not just divisive viral content," he said at a halalbihalal event with broadcasters attended by officials from LKBN ANTARA, RRI, TVRI, and representatives from Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Meutya also highlighted the challenges faced by conventional mass media companies in the digital era, including declining advertising spending and a shift in public attention to social media.
He underlined the need for affirmative steps from the state to ensure LPP can remain relevant and competitive.
"Currently, conventional media needs real support, not only budget, but also affirmative policies and a healthy ecosystem," he said.
