RSK Dharmais and BD strengthen cervical cancer screening with HPV DNA.

Dharmais Cancer Hospital in collaboration with global medical technology company Becton Dickinson (BD) launched an initiative to encourage early detection of cervical cancer by independently sampling human papillomavirus (HPV)-DNA.

"Technology can now check if there is a virus, unfortunately it cannot be seen using a microscope, you have to go to the doctor, now there is an innovation in swabbing the cervix. It's just a matter of our culture not being used to that but if technology is studied properly it can help whether there is a virus or not, if there is a virus, it can be treated so it doesn't quickly become cancer," said the President Director of Dharmais Cancer Hospital, dr. Raden Soeko Werdi Nindito Daroekoesoemo, MARS, in his speech at a cervical cancer screening event.

Seoko said many women still do not understand the risks of HPV infection and the important role of early detection in preventing cervical cancer. Treatment in hospitals is also often in the final stages and begins to attack young ages.
