Samsung addresses US tariff challenges through production allocation

Jakarta - Samsung Electronics Co. said it plans to leverage its global production network to counter new U.S. tariffs, including reciprocal duties targeting goods from nearly all countries, including South Korea.

"We sell TVs, monitors and sound bars in the United States, with TVs as the main product," Samsung Electronics President and Head of Visual Display Division Yong Seok-woo said at a press conference, Yonhap reported on Monday.

Yong said most of the TVs were manufactured in Mexico.

Last week, US President Donald Trump announced plans to impose a minimum base tariff of 10 percent on all imports into the US as well as reciprocal tariffs that vary by country, including a 25 percent duty on South Korea.

Goods from Mexico and Canada are not affected by the new tariff policy.
