Uraloglu was received at Damascus International Airport by his Syrian counterpart, Yarab Badr, and the Turkish Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, Ambassador Burhan Koroglu.
The Turkish Minister of Transport thanked his Syrian counterpart for the warm welcome, noting that he had arrived in Syria for a two-day working visit.
Uraloğlu congratulated the new administration on the liberation of Syria, noting that transportation is one area of potential cooperation between the two countries. He said that discussions with the Syrian side will address possible steps in the areas of communications, air, land, sea, and railways.
For his part, the Syrian Minister of Transport welcomed his Turkish counterpart, saying, "Welcome to your second home, Syria. This visit reflects the depth of relations between the two countries."
On December 8, Syrian factions took control of the country, ending 61 years of the bloody Baath Party and 53 years of control by the Assad family. On January 29, the new Syrian administration announced the appointment of Sharaa as president for a transitional period scheduled to last five years.
