The Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported that the law was passed by a majority of 338 votes, exceeding the required majority of 226 votes.
"The Ukrainian Parliament has ratified the historic economic partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United States," Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said in a post on the X platform.
Ukrainian public radio station Saspilin also quoted Sviridenko as saying, "The United States is ready to invest in our economy and our subsoil. Ukraine retains ownership of our minerals and subsoil."
She noted that the agreement does not include any Ukrainian debts related to previous US arms transfers.
For her part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Yulia Svyridenko confirmed that Parliament had ratified the historic economic partnership agreement with the United States.
She expressed hope that this document would pave the way for her country to obtain new US military aid "to repel the Russians," as she put it.
In a post on the X platform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the agreement as "a truly historic document that opens up many new opportunities for cooperation."
It's worth noting that this agreement was concluded in late April, following weeks of tension between Kyiv and Washington, which culminated in a verbal altercation between the US and Ukrainian presidents in the Oval Office in late February.
Through this agreement, the administration of US President Donald Trump seeks to recover the funds it provided to Kyiv to help it fight its war with Russia.
In early February, the US president said Ukraine should supply the United States with "rare minerals," describing this as a form of payment for the financial support Washington provides it in its war against Russia.
He noted at the time that the United States had provided far more aid to Ukraine than any other country, saying, "We've spent over $300 billion, while Europe has spent about $100 billion. That's a huge difference."
