After months of closure, the Palestinian president lifts the ban on the Qatari Al Jazeera channel.

Last January, a specialized Palestinian ministerial committee comprised of representatives from the Ministries of Culture, Interior, and Communications decided to "suspend broadcasts and freeze all Al Jazeera operations and its office in Palestine," according to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA.

The committee also decided to "temporarily suspend the work of all journalists and employees working for Al Jazeera, its crews, and its affiliated channels until its legal status is rectified, due to Al Jazeera's violation of the laws and regulations in force in Palestine."

According to WAFA, the decision came "following Al Jazeera's insistence on broadcasting inflammatory material and reports characterised by misleading, sedition-inciting, tampering and interference in Palestinian internal affairs."

It is worth noting that Al Jazeera's office in the West Bank has been closed by order of the Israeli occupation army since September 22, 2024, when the army raided the office and issued a closure order to its staff.
