A statement issued following the group's meeting in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday indicated that Ankara and Washington share a vision of "a stable Syria coexisting in peace with itself and its neighbors."
Sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting was co-chaired by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz and his US counterpart, Christopher Landau, as a meeting between the two countries' institutions.
This meeting is of great importance given that it was held after a direct meeting between Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and US President Donald Trump (in Saudi Arabia), and the latter's announcement of his intention to lift sanctions imposed on Damascus.
