Atalanta secured a ticket to qualify for next season's Champions League after defeating AS Roma with a score of 2-1 in the 36th week of the 2024/25 Italian League at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Stadium.

Ademola Lookman put Atalanta ahead before Bryan Cristante equalised for AS Roma, with Ibrahim Sulemana the hero in the second half.

The result sees Atalanta consolidate their position in third place with 71 points. They are seven points ahead of Juventus in fourth and AS Roma in fifth with two games remaining, as reported by the official Italian League website.

The match was fierce from the kick-off, with both teams trading attacks.

Atalanta were able to capitalize on the momentum to score the opener just nine minutes into the match after Ademola Lookman converted Charles De Ketelaere's pass into a goal. The score became 1-0.

Falling behind, AS Roma immediately responded by playing a more open game, creating several opportunities.

As a result, in the 32nd minute Bryan Cristante scored the equalizer with a header in the penalty box after utilizing a corner kick from Matias Soule. The first half ended with a score of 1-1.

Entering the second half, the match became more exciting. Both teams tried to score the second goal.

However, it was the home fans who ultimately cheered after Ibrahim Sulemana put Atalanta back in front in the 76th minute.

A quick counter-attack was finished off by Sulemana with a powerful shot from outside the penalty box that ripped through Roma's bottom right corner.

Until the match was ended by the referee, Atalanta's 2-1 advantage over AS Roma remained unchanged.
