CAMSR is strong evidence of cooperation in preserving Indonesian-Chinese culture.

Indonesia and China are further strengthening cooperation in cultural preservation efforts, marked by the joining of Cirebon and Semarang in the Maritime Silk Road City Alliance becoming an important part of the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Cirebon became the first international member to join CAMSR since November 2024, and last week (14/5), the Guangzhou City Government and the Cirebon Regency Government held an event entitled "Silk Road Blossoms" in Cirebon as an effort to deepen cooperation in submitting the maritime silk road world heritage.

At the event, the Cirebon Regency Government conveyed its plans and asked for CAMSR's support regarding the plan to build a marine archaeology museum.

As a maritime city, Cirebon has many underwater artifacts left over from ships that sank in the past. Therefore, the Chinese delegation and the Cirebon government agreed to work together in a collaborative search for artifacts."This museum project is expected to be the best example in the preservation and utilization of underwater cultural heritage, as well as an important milestone in cultural cooperation between Indonesia and China," said Cirebon Regent, Imron Rosyadi, in an official statement.

Following Cirebon, Semarang City also announced its joining CAMSR on Thursday (15/5). The Semarang City Government hopes that this collaboration will encourage cultural preservation and promote Semarang tourism as part of the world's maritime silk route which was once a stopover for Admiral Cheng Ho in the past.
