Member of Commission B of the East Java Regional People's Representative Council Chusni Mubarok stated that the Red and White Village Cooperative Program will be the main driving force behind the revival of the village economy through two strategic sectors, namely food security and tourism.
"These two sectors directly touch the needs and potential of the village. The money circulation becomes bigger so that BUMDes can get additional capital," said Chusni through a statement received.
The Red and White Village Cooperative Program, which has formed 390 units in the Malang Raya area, is considered an inclusive village economic empowerment solution.
Chusni emphasized that the presence of this cooperative would not result in overlapping authority as feared by a number of parties in the village.
"The Red and White Cooperative is a cooperative from us, by us, and for us. Not a single institution is shut down, as long as everyone can be involved," he said.
He explained that this cooperative is present in three schemes, namely the formation of new ones in villages that do not yet have cooperatives, revitalization for inactive cooperatives, and development for active cooperatives.
One example, he said, can be seen in Tajinan District, Malang Regency, where existing cooperatives have been strengthened thanks to integration with the Merah Putih program.
In addition to the production sector, this cooperative is also engaged in providing agricultural facilities such as farmer shops, medicines, agricultural tools, and is a distribution point for subsidized fertilizer.
