Sirens sounded in several areas across Israel, the IDF said on social media platform X.
On Thursday, the Yemeni Houthi group announced that it had launched two ballistic missiles at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, in two consecutive attacks within hours.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said: "The Yemeni armed forces (Houthis) carried out a qualitative missile force operation on Lod Airport (Ben Gurion) with a Zulfiqar ballistic missile."
He added that the operation caused "airport operations to come to a standstill for about an hour."
Saree added, "The operation on Lod Airport achieved its goal, halting air traffic for nearly an hour and sending millions of occupiers (Israelis) rushing to shelters."
He continued: "The armed forces carried out a dual operation by the air force using two Yaffa drones, targeting two vital targets in Jaffa (Tel Aviv) and Haifa (north)."
On Monday, the Houthi group announced a naval blockade of the port of Haifa, in response to the "expansion of aggressive operations" against the Gaza Strip, as part of Tel Aviv's ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.
Later, the group announced, through Saree's spokesman, that it had "carried out a qualitative military operation targeting Lod Airport, using the Houthi forces' missile force," for the second time in a row.
Saree explained that the operation was carried out with a hypersonic ballistic missile that "successfully achieved its goal and forced millions of occupiers (Israelis) to rush to shelters."
Channel 12 reported that aircraft landings and takeoffs were temporarily halted at Ben Gurion Airport after air raid sirens were activated, while Israeli Army Radio said: "Since the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip last March, 37 ballistic missiles have been launched at Israel from Yemen."
The Houthis say they are launching missiles at Israel "in support of the Palestinians in Gaza," and they will continue to do so as long as Tel Aviv continues its war of extermination in the Strip.
On Sunday, the Israeli occupation army announced the launch of a ground offensive in several areas within the Gaza Strip, as part of what it called Operation "Gideon's Wagons," a dangerous escalation in the ongoing war of extermination in the Strip.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving more than 175,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
