Israeli police announce that one of their officers was injured in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem and that the perpetrator was "neutralized."

"A short time ago, a police officer was reported stabbed in the Old City of Jerusalem and injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment," police said in a statement.

According to a police statement, "the suspect in the stabbing attack was neutralized by being shot at the scene," and it was noted that "large police forces are present at the scene."

For its part, the private Hebrew Channel 14 reported that the policeman's injury was moderately serious, while the private Hebrew Channel 12 reported that the Israeli police "neutralized" the perpetrator.

The stabbing comes as the Israeli occupation army escalates its bombing of the Gaza Strip and its attacks in the occupied West Bank.

In parallel with the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of at least 967 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 17,000, according to Palestinian data.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving approximately 173,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
