The Ministry of Communication and Digital collaborated with Alibaba Cloud and GoTo Group to hold the GenAI Hackathon 2025 in an effort to accelerate the development of digital talent in the field of artificial intelligence ( AI ).
Head of the Human Resources and Digital Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said that this collaboration reflects a joint commitment between the government and industry.
"This is done to accelerate the development of Indonesian digital talent, especially in the field of generative artificial intelligence, or what we can call GenAI, which currently stands as the main pillar of global digital transformation," he said as quoted from the ministry's press release.
He said that the program registrants reached 1,506 people from all over Indonesia and from that number, 100 of the best participants from the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) Program were selected to proceed to the Hackathon stage.
"This shows the spirit of readiness, the extraordinary potential of Indonesia's young generation in developing AI-based digital solutions," he said.
All participants have undergone a comprehensive series of training ranging from basic technical literacy through Micro-Skill modules to in-depth training covering core AI principles such as ethics, model development, and application of solutions in various strategic sectors.
"They are equipped with fundamental technical literacy through Micro-Skill modules. We have a learning management system. There are entry skills, we call them Micro-Skill modules," said Bonifasius.
Hackathon is a continuation of the tiered training organized by Kemkomdigi. Participants in this program have the opportunity to utilize the latest AI technologies such as Model Studio, Lingma, PAI, and Qwen LLM.
After undergoing training at the pre-Hackathon stage, program participants during the Hackathon work in teams to design and present intelligent application prototypes for digital payment systems, transportation, e-commerce, productivity, personal assistant services, and food security.
