Lebanon: One killed in Israeli drone attack, airstrikes target two towns in the south

This targeting comes after Israeli airstrikes targeted the towns of Aita al-Shaab and Yarin in southern Lebanon, in new violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation.

The official Lebanese National News Agency reported that "an Israeli drone carried out a raid at dawn on Saturday in two batches, targeting a hangar in the Mafraq neighborhood in the town of Aita al-Shaab, in the Bint Jbeil district in the Nabatieh Governorate (south)," and that no injuries were recorded.

The agency reported that "the Israeli enemy also targeted a prefabricated room and a concrete block factory in the border town of Yarin at dawn today."

On October 8, 2023, Israel launched an aggression against Lebanon, which escalated into a full-scale war on September 23, 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries, in addition to the displacement of approximately 1.4 million people.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on November 27, Israel has committed at least 2,780 violations, leaving at least 200 dead and 491 wounded, according to official data.

While the Lebanese army continues its deployment in the south in implementation of the agreement, Israel has reneged on its commitment to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by February 18.

The Israeli occupation army carried out a partial withdrawal from Lebanon, and its forces continue to occupy five major Lebanese hills, within the areas it occupied in the last war.

For decades, Israel has occupied territories in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, and refuses to withdraw from them and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, along the pre-1967 borders.
