Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the presence of new online motorcycle taxi applications such as Zendo and Nujek is not a problem because it is part of the dynamics of the open and competitive digital transportation market.
"Please go ahead, this is an open market," said the Minister of Transportation when met on the sidelines of gathering a number of online motorcycle taxi applicators.
The Minister of Transportation conveyed this when asked for his response as to whether the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) was monitoring the development of new applications such as Zendo which is managed by the Muhammadiyah Business Union (SUM), and Nujek or Nusantara Ojek which is managed by the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU).
The Minister of Transportation did not comment much on this matter, but for him it was an open effort.
However, he emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation does not have the authority to license digital applications, because this is the domain of other ministries that have the authority to regulate the information technology sector.
"The authority for digital applications is not with us. It is with other institutions. If other institutions are of the view that there are other applications that want to enter the market, then please do so," he said.
According to him, as long as the relevant institutions provide official permits, the presence of new applications in online motorcycle taxi services is welcome as a form of healthy competition in the national digital transportation ecosystem.
