Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo remembered the figure of Major General TNI Eddie Mardjoeki Nalapraya as someone who was instrumental in developing pencak silat not only in Indonesia, but also introducing the Indonesian martial art to the world.
Eddie Mardjoeki Nalapraya, who received the honorary title of Father of World Pencak Silat, died at the age of 93.
"Mr. Eddie Nalapraya is a hero of pencak silat, because during his lifetime he contributed, and his love for pencak silat is real," said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito when met after attending a tribute event for the late Eddie Nalapraya at the TMII Pencak Silat Padepokan.
