Nvidia suffers losses due to restrictions on chip exports to China

Nvidia has released its first quarter financial report for fiscal 2026 ending on April 28, while revealing the significant impact of the US President Donald Trump's chip export restriction policy on their business.

As reported by Tech Crunch on Thursday, the US chip company reported a loss of US$4.5 billion in the first quarter due to licensing restrictions that prevented the sale of H20 AI chips to companies in China.

Additionally, Nvidia also stated that it failed to deliver an additional $2.5 billion in revenue from H20 chips in the same period due to the rule.

Initially, when the licensing terms were announced in April, Nvidia had projected it would incur costs of up to $5.5 billion in the first quarter.
