Perum Perhutani is accelerating digital transformation steps in the forestry sector by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technology.
Through a strategic partnership with Alibaba Cloud, the state-owned enterprise that manages millions of hectares of forest areas is utilizing technology to improve operational efficiency while supporting environmental conservation efforts.
"AI and Cloud technology opens up many new opportunities for us. For example, in detecting potential forest fires, automatically mapping critical areas, and streamlining existing internal procedures," said Prasetyo Herlambang, Head of IT Development & Technology Perhutani, at the Alibaba Cloud Indonesia 2025 Strategy event, Wednesday.
According to Prasetyo, Perhutani has allocated around 60 percent of its digital transformation budget in the last three years to strengthen digital infrastructure and Cloud service integration.
