Apple is reportedly testing the iPhone's iOS interface for the desktop version to provide a computer-like experience.
The Verge reported Thursday that tipster Majin Bu, citing an unnamed source, said the iPhone could be connected to an external display using a USB-C cable. The desktop version of the iOS interface would make the iPhone's screen feel larger, allowing it to be used for tasks such as editing images.
Majin Bu currently has a mixed reputation for being right and wrong when it comes to gadget leaks.
The iPhone has been able to be used on external displays in a limited way, either using a cable or wirelessly using AirPlay. Current uses for external displays include mirroring (showing what is being done on the phone) or broadcasting video to a display that has AirPlay enabled.
Apple isn’t the only manufacturer looking to create a custom UI for its phones. Samsung has long had Samsung DeX.
