Scheunemann: Girls' youth soccer ecosystem needs to be developed

Professional football coach Timo Scheunemann conveyed the importance of developing a children's football ecosystem, especially in the 10-12 year age group.

According to Scheunemann, children at that age should ideally attend team training two to three times a week, plus one game. Meanwhile, for children who have more talent, training can be done up to four times per week.

"Together training is important, but individual training is much more important at that age," Scheunemann told.

Scheunemann also highlighted the difference in approach between Soccer Schools (SSB) and formal educational institutions. He considered that competitions for boys would be more ideal if they were held between SSBs because the players there already had a strong interest in soccer.

On the other hand, for women's football, inter-SSB competition is still difficult to hold because the number of women's SSBs is very small.

"Therefore, we build a girls' soccer ecosystem through schools. We go directly to elementary schools, provide understanding and show the benefits of participating in this competition," he explained.
