The joint statement explained that Najm had been held in administrative detention since August 2023, and had previously spent a total of approximately 19 years in occupation prisons at various times.
He added that Najm, who is married and has six children, was subjected to a medical crime, including complete denial of treatment despite his chronic health conditions. A human rights delegation visited him in the Negev prison on March 10, where a significant deterioration in his health was noted.
The statement accused the occupation authorities of committing a "complex crime" against him by continuing his administrative detention, denying him medical treatment, and detaining him in the Negev prison, which is considered one of the prisons with the most serious violations recorded, especially with the spread of scabies and the prison's transformation into a deadly environment for prisoners.
He pointed out that among the 66 martyrs, at least 40 were from the Gaza Strip, amid the ongoing policy of enforced disappearance of detainees.
The statement called on the international human rights community to take effective steps to hold the occupation's leaders accountable for crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners, and to impose international sanctions that isolate Israel politically and legally.
Israel detains approximately 9,900 Palestinians, including approximately 400 children and 29 female prisoners, not counting the thousands of cases of enforced disappearance from the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, it continues to perpetrate a US-backed genocide in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in more than 170,000 deaths and injuries since October 7, 2023, most of whom are children and women, in addition to 11,000 missing persons. This is in addition to the escalation of attacks in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which have left more than 960 martyrs and thousands more injured, detained, and displaced.
