In an interview with Channel 12, Huckabee explained that the US administration does not yet have a clear plan for the post-war phase in Gaza, but he said it supports providing an opportunity for those who wish to leave the Strip.
The US ambassador indicated that the reconstruction of Gaza would involve the participation of the Gulf states, holding Hamas responsible for the failure to reach a prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement, describing it as the "sole obstacle" to an agreement.
Regarding US President Donald Trump's upcoming tour of the Middle East, which will not include Israel, Huckabee emphasized that the visit focuses on economic opportunities, denying any political dimensions behind Israel's exclusion from the tour. He noted that Trump has spent more time with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu than with any other leader.
Since January 25, Trump has been promoting a proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan. This proposal has been rejected by both countries, as well as by other Arab countries and regional and international organizations.
In contrast, Egypt proposed an Arab and Islamic plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents, but the proposal was rejected by Trump and Netanyahu.
With full American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 172,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
