This came during his participation in a joint broadcast program that began at 12 noon and will continue for 24 hours in Istanbul's Sultanahmet Square, under the slogan: "Don't be silent for Palestine," organized by the Turkish Press Union, in protest against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza for the twentieth month.
Alton stressed the need to lift the injustice suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza, stating that ending this injustice lies at the heart of the efforts led by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He stressed that a genocide has been taking place before the eyes of the world in Gaza since October 7, 2023, and that a major crime against humanity is being perpetrated against the Palestinians in the Strip. He described Israel as an "evil machine," one that commits crimes against humanity on the one hand and attempts to cover up those crimes on the other.
He stated that Israel, through pressure groups and lobbies around the world, is seeking to erase the Palestinians from history. He added, "This injustice accelerated on October 7, 2023. We faced massacres and attacks on a scale unprecedented in history."
The head of the Turkish Presidency's Communications Department pointed out that Israel committed the crime of genocide and the killing of civilians, as described by international courts.
He explained that the situation in Palestine is referred to in international and political literature as the "Palestinian problem," stressing that it should be called the "Israeli problem."
Alton believes that the reason behind the crimes against humanity in Palestine is the neglect of the Western international system, which turns a blind eye to Israel's crimes.
He stressed the need to establish lasting peace in the region as soon as possible and end the war, and emphasized the need for rapid reconstruction and recovery efforts to address the damage caused by the demolitions in Gaza.
He added that all countries in the region and the international coalition must establish a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible and restore the region to normalcy.
Alton affirmed Türkiye's desire to prosecute and punish all parties involved in the injustice perpetrated by the Israeli government before international courts.
He added: "Our greatest gratitude on behalf of humanity must go to our Palestinian brothers, because thanks to the resistance, strength, unity, and dedication of our Palestinian brothers, those fighting for truth all over the world have hope, and we have hope. We are optimistic because the resistance of the Palestinian people is a very honorable resistance in the name of humanity."
The head of the Turkish Presidency's Communications Department continued, "The Palestinian people are not only resisting for themselves, but for humanity, and we are trying to support this resistance with all our strength."
He stressed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's "One Minute" statement was a noble, valuable, and highly strategic initiative that has gone down in history for humanity.
"One Minute" is a phrase uttered by President Erdoğan on January 29, 2009, while participating in a session on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland. The session was also attended by then-Israeli President Shimon Peres. Erdoğan objected to the moderator giving Peres more time to speak than he was given, and said his famous phrase, "One Minute."
In this context, Alton said: "Many politicians, both Western and non-Western, on the international stage believe that criticizing and standing against Israel will carry a heavy price, and they follow a strategy of not speaking out against Israel in any way, regardless of its oppressive practices. Our president banged his fist on the table, showing that Israel's injustice can be confronted with dignity and pride on the international stage."
He pointed out that the Turkish government is making efforts to achieve the truth, and that Israel is trying to commit massacres not only against oppressed peoples but also against the truth.
Alton explained that while Israel is committing these crimes and injustices, it is also trying to legitimize itself through the lies it systematically spreads on the international stage.
He added that these lies fall into two categories: the lies they spread about current events, and the lies they promote through myths they have historically produced.
Alton said that Israel launched an intensive campaign of lies after October 7. He added that the Turkish Presidential Communications Department established a separate unit within the Anti-Disinformation Center to address Israel's lies.
Alton emphasized that what journalists working in Gaza and the region report is important to those seeking the truth, noting Israel's annoyance with journalists in this regard.
He pointed out that more than 220 journalists have been "martyred" by Israeli fire in Gaza. Alton said that journalists from Turkey's state-run broadcaster TRT and Anadolu Agency, along with Turkish media outlets, are providing significant support to uncover the facts in Gaza.
He pointed out that Israel has completely lost its moral legitimacy in the eyes of Western public opinion. He explained that this will put pressure on Israel in the long run, and that Jewish communities themselves have significantly increased their criticism of Israel, believing that the Israeli massacres in Gaza reflect negatively on them around the world and are fueling anti-Semitism.
Alton emphasized that it is their duty, and the duty of humanity, to stand up against Israeli violations, citing Türkiye's severing of trade ties with Israel as one of the practical steps to do so.
He emphasized that the scene and experience in Syria (through the overthrow of the Assad regime and the victory of the revolution) provided significant insights for the entire world. In this context, Alton said, "Just as Syria was liberated, Palestine will be liberated, God willing. Just as Aleppo and Damascus were liberated, Jerusalem will also be liberated. Gaza and the West Bank will also be liberated."
He continued: "Just as our Syrian brothers fought this struggle and reaped its fruits, they (the Palestinians) will reap the fruits of their struggle, God willing."
