Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca admitted he was surprised by the many empty seats in the stadium when his team won 2-0 over Los Angeles FC (LAFC).
The Blues begin their campaign in Group F of the 2025 Club World Cup by facing LAFC at the Mercedes-Benz stadium.
However, the victory felt like something was missing because the capacity of the Mercedes-Benz stadium, which can accommodate 70 thousand spectators, was only filled with around 22 thousand people.
"It was a good game, the team played well. I just felt a bit strange because of the atmosphere of the game. You know, the stadium was almost empty. It wasn't full," Maresca was quoted as saying by The Athletic on Tuesday.
