This came in a speech delivered by Erdogan during a meeting of the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary bloc at the Turkish Parliament in the capital, Ankara, where he stressed that his country is making every effort to halt the brutal Israeli aggression in the region.
Erdogan added: "The blood of the civilians who were killed, the infants and children, stained the hands and foreheads of those who remained silent and who support Israel's arrogance."
He added that Israel has expanded its operations in the region to include assassinations and attacks inside Iranian territory, noting that Ankara is closely monitoring developments in the Israeli aggression against Iran, and that all state institutions are on high alert in preparation for any possible scenario.
Erdogan noted that Türkiye today has a sophisticated defense infrastructure capable of protecting its airspace using domestically produced systems, emphasizing his country's continued pursuit of "complete independence" in the defense industry.
The Turkish president criticized the silence of the international community and United Nations institutions regarding the Israeli attacks, stressing that Ankara seeks only peace and stability in the Middle East and will continue its intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider regional catastrophe.
Erdogan concluded by saying, "Our efforts for peace are sincere, but we will not hesitate to respond appropriately to any attack targeting us," stressing that Türkiye's efforts to stop Israeli aggression will continue in the coming period by all possible means.
Since Friday, Israel, with US support, has launched an aggression against Iran, including bombing nuclear facilities and missile bases and assassinating military leaders and nuclear scientists. This has resulted in 224 deaths and 1,277 injuries. Tehran has responded with ballistic missiles and drones, leaving approximately 24 dead and hundreds injured.
The risk of an escalation of the conflict looms, with Western and Israeli reports suggesting Washington may join Israel in its aggression against Iran, coinciding with statements by US President Donald Trump calling on Tehran to "surrender unconditionally."
