Iranian state television quoted Majlis spokesman Hadi Tahan Nazif as saying that the draft law, passed by the Iranian parliament on Wednesday, was approved today by the Guardian Council, the body charged with monitoring the conformity of laws with the constitution and Sharia law.
The Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) voted in favor of a bill suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This came after Tehran accused the agency of "collusion" with Israel and the United States, in what it described as "indirect legitimization of attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities" during the recent aggression.
On June 13, Israel, with US support, launched a 12-day attack on Iran, targeting military and nuclear sites, civilian facilities, and the assassination of military leaders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded by targeting Israeli military and intelligence headquarters with ballistic missiles and drones.
Later, the United States attacked nuclear facilities in Iran on June 22, prompting Tehran to respond by bombing the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar. Washington then declared a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Tehran on June 24.
