Israel targets an Iranian airport and military sites, and Tehran activates its air defenses





Fars News Agency reported that two missiles struck an area near Mehrabad Airport in western Iran, causing fires.

The sounds of drones and intermittent explosions were heard in the center of the capital, while Iran's Civil Aviation Authority announced the closure of Iranian airspace until 2 p.m. local time on Saturday.

The Israeli occupation army announced carrying out extensive raids targeting Iranian Air Force bases in Hamadan and Tabriz, western Iran.

An Israeli military spokesman also revealed that a nuclear facility in the Isfahan region had been attacked, confirming the destruction of a uranium metal production building, uranium conversion infrastructure, and laboratories.

Israel's Channel 12 reported that estimates indicate that an airstrike in the Asadabad area of ​​western Iran targeted ballistic missile platforms.

Confronting Israeli attacks

Iranian television reported that Iranian forces shot down Israeli drones in the city of Salmas in West Azerbaijan Province, adding that "the drones entered Iranian airspace on espionage and reconnaissance missions."

An Israeli attack targeted Hamadan and an ammunition depot in the city of Zanjan. Violent explosions were heard in the Vardavard area west of Tehran, and the Hakimiyah and Tehranpars areas east of the Iranian capital.

The Iranian News Agency reported that Tehran's air defenses "intensely confronted Zionist missiles." Tasnim News Agency also reported that air defense systems successfully repelled Israeli attacks on Kermanshah in western Iran after air defense systems were activated there and in Isfahan.

An explosion occurred in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran, and an attack was carried out on a communications tower in the city.

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations said that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Iran has reached 78 dead and 320 wounded.

Since dawn on Friday, Israel, with tacit US support, launched a massive attack on Iran with more than 200 fighter jets, dubbed "Operation Rising Lion." The attack targeted nuclear facilities and missile bases in various areas, and assassinated prominent military leaders and nuclear scientists.

The Israeli occupation army announced that its "preemptive" attack, which continued in successive waves, came under directives from the political echelon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "the goal of this unprecedented attack is to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile factories, and numerous military capabilities."

On Friday evening, Iran began responding to the Israeli attack with a massive missile attack, launching more than 150 ballistic missiles, striking nine locations, including a fire near the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. The response resulted in the deaths of three Israelis, the injury of more than 90, and extensive damage to buildings, according to Hebrew media.
