More than a million vehicles in Jakarta have not paid taxes

More than a million motor vehicles in DKI Jakarta have not been re-registered through the annual tax payment mechanism, so there is a potential income of up to IDR 1 trillion that has not been paid by its owners.

"If the potential is IDR 1 trillion and it is hoped that the amnesty can pay IDR 300-400 billion, that is good," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Lusiana Herawati.

With more than 1 million motor vehicles that have not yet been re-registered, this actually has quite a large potential for income.

According to him, at every celebration of Jakarta's Anniversary (HUT), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides vehicle tax amnesty in the form of eliminating fines and interest.

The program, said Lusi, was carried out as a form of incentive to increase public awareness in paying taxes on time.

"Actually, this tax amnesty program is aimed at vehicles that have not re-registered and paid taxes," he said.
