The decision was adopted unanimously by the General Affairs Committee during the 113th session of the International Labour Conference at ministerial level in Geneva.
The ministry indicated that the ILO Governing Body will formally adopt this decision on Thursday, June 5.
She explained that this decision "grants Palestine expanded rights as an observer in the International Labour Organization, as it seeks to expand Palestine's participation in the organization by raising its status to non-member observer state, in line with its status in the United Nations."
The Ministry commended the positions of the countries that expressed their clear support for the draft resolution, and emphasized the importance of "enabling the State of Palestine to exercise its full role in the organization and enhancing its international presence as a state, not just a liberation movement."
The ministry stressed the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the territory, which is suffering from famine due to the Israeli blockade.
She pointed out the importance of this step to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people, given Israel's ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip, its ongoing and systematic genocide in complete disregard of international law, the International Court of Justice's orders, its legal advisory opinion, and General Assembly resolutions.
The ministry described the countries' positive vote as "a glimmer of hope for Palestinians that the world will stand with them in the face of genocide, colonial settlement, and settler terrorism."
With full American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 179,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
In parallel with the annihilation of Gaza, the Israeli occupation army and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of at least 973 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 7,000, and the arrest of more than 17,000, according to Palestinian data.
