Garut Police Resort has implemented an open-close system so that the flow of vehicles from both directions Garut-Singaparna and vice versa can still pass through the route affected by the landslide disaster in the Cilawu area, Garut Regency, West Java.
Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Aang Andi Suhandi, said that the joint team had succeeded in removing some of the landslide material to open a route for two-wheeled and four-wheeled motorized vehicles from Garut to Tasikmalaya and vice versa.
"We will arrange the longest ones so that they can be alternated, so that the flow from Garut to Tasikmalaya and vice versa can return to normal," he said.
He said that a number of police personnel, then the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and related agency elements went to the landslide location to remove the material that was blocking the main road of Garut-Singaparna.
Heavy rain that poured over the Garut area, he said, was the cause of the landslide in Cikangkung Village, Sukamaju Village, Cilawu District, at around 06.30 WIB, and was successfully opened towards noon.
"Now that it has been opened, road users are advised to be patient when passing through the Cilawu route," he said.
While the route was closed by a landslide, said Aang, his staff engineered traffic flow by diverting vehicle flow in the Sukadana area, Garut City District to use the national route across Limbangan-Malangbong towards Tasikmalaya.
He said that the route engineering was to maintain safety and smooth flow of vehicle traffic which was carried out in coordination with the ranks of the Tasikmalaya Police.
"This engineering was carried out with cross-regional coordination with the Tasikmalaya Police and Tasikmalaya City Police," he said.
The landslide incident that blocked the Garut-Singaparna road not only occurred in the jurisdiction of the Garut Police, but also in the jurisdiction of the Tasikmalaya Police, precisely in the Babakansari Village area, Kutawaringin Village, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya Regency, causing traffic flow to be obstructed.
