The bank said in a statement that its Board of Executive Directors approved "a $146 million grant to finance Syria to help restore reliable and affordable electricity and support the country's economic recovery."
Iraq also received $930 million in funding, according to the statement, to "modernize railways, boost domestic trade, create jobs, and diversify the economy."
In Lebanon, the World Bank approved $250 million in financing to support reconstruction efforts, including rubble removal and infrastructure repair, at a time when the country continues to face the repercussions of severe economic and financial crises.
This funding comes as part of a broader effort by the World Bank to promote sustainable development and support essential infrastructure in Middle Eastern countries affected by conflict and economic crises.
